The University of Alberta Botanic Garden is located in Parkland County - only 15 minutes from West Edmonton Mall or SW Edmonton (5 km north of Devon on Highway 60). We are not located on the University of Alberta campus.
There are several ways to get to the event. Visit our Getting Here and Parking Page for details.
If you are leaving from Corbett Hall on the U of A Campus, allow approx. 45 minutes to get to the Garden.
If you are taking the shuttle from Superstore in Spruce Grove, allow approx. 20 minutes to get to the Garden.
If you are taking the shuttle from the Devon Shopping Centre, allow approx. 8 minutes to get to the Garden.
Accessibility will depend on weather conditions. Luminaria is an outdoor event and subject to winter weather conditions, which might include freezing rain, compacted snow etc. Visitors should be aware there are some areas with steep grades where assistance is recommended for wheelchairs.
Coupons and passes are not accepted during the Luminaria event, which is an important fundraiser for the Garden.
Sorry, with the exception of certified service animals, pets are not permitted at the Garden.
We don’t take photography bookings during Luminaria, as it is a very popular and busy event.
Tons! We have a fantastic army of volunteers who help out with many behind-the-scenes aspects of the event. If you’re interested in joining the fun, visit our Volunteer Page.
There will be hot food and beverage available for purchase, along with the famous free hot apple cider beside the bonfires.
The Shop in the Garden will be open, with great end-of-season specials. The UABG Crafters Association will be open selling a great selection of seasonal handmade crafts. If you want to recreate the magic on a smaller scale at home, Luminaria Kits will be available for sale, and make a great gift.
