Luminaria Bag Assembly Work Bee
Nov. 14, 11 am – 3 pm (approx. 5 hrs.)
This crew helps assemble the thousands of Luminaria bags that light up the Garden.
Decoration Prep Crew
Nov. 21, 11 am – 3 pm (approx. 5 hrs.)
This crew helps prepare and assemble decore items that are used during the event.
Advance Site Preparation (week before event, flexible day-time hours)
This crew helps prepare the site for the site setup crew.
EVENT WEEKEND:
Aga Khan Garden Crew
4 pm to 10:30 pm (approx. 6-1/2 hours)
This crew directs and assists patrons in the Aga Khan Garden.
Apple Cider, Beverage Crew
4 pm to 10:30 pm (approx. 6-1/2 hours)
This crew makes hot apple cider and replenishes cider stations. *Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Apple Cider, Prep Crew
(approx. 5 hours) 11 am to 4 pm on Friday / 2 pm to 6 pm on Sat. or Sun.
This crew prepares and makes hot apple cider. *Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Apple Cider Servers /Fire Pit Crew
4 pm to 10:30 pm (approx. 6-1/2 hours)
This crew supervises fire pits, keeps the fires stoked and burning, and serves cider to happy patrons.
Shuttle Host Crew
4:30 pm to 10:30 pm (approx. 6 hours)
This crew greets and directs shuttle patrons when they’re dropped off at the Garden.
Family Activities Crew
4 pm to 9 pm (approx. 5 hours)
This crew welcomes, directs and supervises family and children’s activity areas.
Greetings Crew
3:30 pm to 9 pm (approx. 5-1/2 hours)
This cheerful crew greets and directs the public and assists with lineup control.
Light-up Crew
2 pm* – 5 pm (approx. 3 hours)
This crew sets up and lights the thousands of candles that will illuminate the Kurimoto Japanese Garden. *Shift start time may change, dependent on conditions.
Memory Lane Crew
4 pm to 10:30 pm (approx. 6-1/2 hours)
This important crew assists visitors who are lighting a candle in memory of a loved one.
Parking Crew
3:30 pm to 9:30 pm (approx. 6 hours)
This crew gets fancy glow-in the-dark batons and directs traffic in the parking lot at the Garden.
Relief and Runners
4 pm to 10 pm (approx. 6 hours)
Members of this crew fill in where needed, relieving other volunteers for breaks, and helping where needed most.
Site Setup Crew
11 am – 2 pm (approx. 3 hours)
Sets up equipment, tables, chairs, fire pits in preparation for the Light up Crew.
Wish Upon a Star Crew
4 pm to 10 pm (approx. 6 hours)
This crew welcomes and assists the public while they make a wish on one of our wish trees.
